Ganguly believes that Pant is the right player for the team's needs in the middle order and he will get a chance to perform better at his old home ground.

He played 111 matches for the franchise and scored 3,284 runs. He has also captained the team. However, in 2025, he became a part of Lucknow Super Giants, but his performance there was not as expected. After this, Pant has returned to Delhi Capitals as part of the exchange of players and in his place Kuldeep Yadav has joined Lucknow Super Giants.

Ganguly said on the franchise's official YouTube channel that the team needed a batsman in the middle order and Pant was perfectly suited for the role. He expressed hope that the time and matches Pant will get in the next season will help him become a better player.

Ganguly also mentioned Pant's association with Delhi and his performances at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. He believes that Pant loves batting on this ground and his best performance can be seen in the Delhi jersey in the coming years.
