West Indies vs South Africa Test: South Africa fast bowler Gerald Coetzee has been ruled out of next month's two-Test series against the West Indies. 23-year-old Coetzee is suffering from a side strain injury, which he suffered earlier this month while playing for Texas Super Kings in Major League Cricket 2024. He then returned to South Africa and after further investigations, the South African medical team declared him unfit for the tour.
Uncapped fast bowler Miguel Pretorius has got a chance in the team in place of Koetje. Pretorius was selected to play against Sri Lanka in 2020 Test Series He got a chance in the team for the 2014 season. But he got a chance to debut. He has been included in the team after his brilliant performance in the County Championship in England. He has taken 23 wickets in 8 matches while playing for Somerset in the current county season. He has a total of 188 wickets in his name in first class cricket.
The first Test match between South Africa and West Indies will be played in Port of Spain, Trinidad from 7 August. After this, the second and last Test match will start in Guyana from 15 August.
