“I don’t want to be a clown”: Jasprit Bumrah on over-aggressive celebrations

Batters and bowlers like to celebrate aggressively after getting better of their rivals in any format of the game. Virat Kohli shows a lot of emotions on the field, while Mitchell Starc also has a habit of going overboard after dismissing a batter. However, Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah is different, and more often than not, he doesn’t show his emotions. He hardly sledges a batter to disturb his concentration.

The speedster is not in favor of ultra-aggressive behavior, and his ways of dealing with the opposite numbers are different.

“We have a few aggressive players on our team, and that works for them. However, I can’t be like them as it doesn’t suit me. I don’t believe in copying someone else. It is not necessary to show everyone that you are upset and angry after getting hit for runs. You can do that without showing it to the world.

“The competitiveness is always there in my mind. When I was a youngster, I used to get angry and bowl bouncers. It never worked for me, as I lost my line and length. There are bowlers whose faces are enough to tell their state of mind without them shouting or saying something to the batters.

“I want my deliveries to do all the talking. I don’t want to become a clown by celebrating aggressively or having a verbal slugfest with the batter,” he told the Indian Express.
