Shahid Afridi has been vocal in his criticism of the Pakistan Cricket Board for some time now. The veteran has been speaking against the chopping and changing policy. The Men in Green have been witnessing a horrific run in big tournaments.
They failed in the 2023 Asia Cup, 2023 ODI World Cup, and 2024 T20 World Cup. Even the bilateral series results have been disappointing. Pakistan lost to the USA in the global tournament.
Following the T20 World Cup, Pakistan implemented several changes, removing Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq. Babar Azam‘s captaincy is also under the scanner.
In his interview with one of the news channels in Pakistan, Afridi lambasted the apex body.
“When you make a change, you must give the time as well. Every year a new chairman comes, he introduces a new system. Things don’t work.”
Babar had left the captaincy from all formats after the debacle in the ODI World Cup last year. However, he returned as a white-ball captain following Shaheen Afridi’s sacking before the T20 World Cup.
Shahid Afridi feels that board members and the senior players should sit together and make a three-year plan.
“All the senior board members and senior players should sit together and make a plan for three years. Let the results come. Stop changing the system.”
