Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has joined the Delhi Capitals as assistant and batting coach ahead of the IPL 2027, reuniting with former skipper Sourav Ganguly as the team looks to win their maiden title.

The 44-year-old, who was one of the top performers in India’s World Cup triumphs in 2007 and 2011, will be making his IPL coaching debut with the DC. Yuvraj has mentored players like Abhishek Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya, and he knows how to get the best out of the cricketers.

Yuvraj has played for the franchise in the past, with the owners spending INR 16 crore to bring him into the team in IPL 2015. He played all 14 matches in that season.

Yuvraj is looking forward to working with the players and highlighted his association with the Capitals and the owners.

“I am excited to start my new journey with the Delhi Capitals. I have an association with the team and know the owners well. It is a special opportunity for me,” Yuvraj Singh said.

“I am also excited to work with Dada as a coach.

I am passionate about coaching, and I can’t wait to get started with the talented squad. It is going to be an exciting journey, and I want to contribute to the success of the team,” he added.

In 132 IPL matches, he scored 2,750 runs and took 36 wickets.

Yuvraj’s working experience

Yuvraj has also worked with India ODI and Test captain Shubman Gill. He has played a key role in Abhishek Sharma’s success in T20Is. He has shared his experience with other youngsters, helping them in dealing with the demands of the sport.

When India won the first T20 World Cup in 2007, Yuvraj was at his best.

He played important innings against England and Australia. He was unstoppable during the 2011 ODI World Cup, contributing with the bat and ball. DC will be hoping that his experience translates into success when the players take the field next year.

Sourav Ganguly returns to the Delhi Capitals

With the change of ownership for the next two years, the new decision-makers hired Sourav Ganguly as head coach after his success in the SA20. He was Delhi’s Director of Cricket in the past and knows everything about the team. Delhi haven’t won an IPL title yet, and Yuvraj and Ganguly will have to work closely with the players to cross the finish line in the 20th season.
