Delhi: Indian team's star opener Abhishek Sharma has created a new history in T20 international cricket. He has made the world record of hitting most sixes in a calendar year. Abhishek played an inning of 29 runs in the fourth T20I match against West Indies. During this period, only one six came off his bat, but this made him the world number-1 batsman.

Become number-1 by breaking Suryakumar Yadav's record

Before the start of the fourth T20 match, Abhishek and Suryakumar Yadav were tied with 68 sixes each.

Suryakumar had achieved this figure in the year 2022, while Abhishek had hit 68 sixes in 2026. Abhishek left Suryakumar behind as soon as he hit a six against West Indies. The special thing for Sharma is that the year 2026 is not over yet and he has a chance to further improve his record.

In the list of batsmen who have hit most sixes during a calendar year in T20 International cricket, Abhishek is at first place with 69 sixes, while Suryakumar is now at second place with 68 sixes.

Abhishek had also hit 54 sixes in 2025. Whereas, Ishan Kishan has hit 52 sixes so far in 2026. Pakistan's Sahibzada Farhan is at fifth position in 2025 with 45 sixes.

Record of 150 sixes also on target

Abhishek Sharma has a chance to achieve another big achievement. He has hit 142 sixes in 65 innings of his T20 career. Now he needs only eight sixes to touch the figure of 150 sixes.

Among players from full member countries, the record of hitting the fastest 150 T20 sixes is currently held in the name of Suryakumar, who achieved this feat in 86 innings.
