Team India’s new T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav lauded former skipper Rohit Sharma for his captaincy. SKY has taken inspiration from the former T20I skipper for his stint. Yadav said that he would implement several things which he learnt from Rohit Sharma. The new leader will lead the Men in Blue in the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka.

Surya and Gautam Gambhir are new to the leadership set-up and coaching staff. Rohit, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja have retired from the shortest format after India’s success in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Suryakumar didn’t forget Rohit while addressing his first press conference.

“Rohit Sharma was the leader and I have learnt a lot from him. He never behaved like a captain. Rohit was a leader, who stood with the group of players and showed everyone how T20 cricket is played and the tournament is won,” he said.

“Every player wants to play for India. You next goal is to win matches for the country. The third comes in the form of captaincy. This is another dream which has come true,” he added.

India will start their T20I series against Sri Lanka on July 27 at the Pallekele International Stadium.
