India‘s T20 World Cup-winning skipper Rohit Sharma was swarmed by enthusiastic fans at the Mumbai airport upon his return from a family vacation in the USA. A viral video shows Sharma accompanied by his wife Ritika Sajdeh and daughter Samaira as they navigated the crowded terminal.
In the video, Sharma, is seen surrounded by a crowd of eager fans constantly requesting selfies. Rohit obliges some of these requests before getting into his blue Lamborghini and driving away with his family.
As the tournament’s second-highest run scorer, Rohit’s explosive performances as an opening batter were pivotal to India’s successful campaign. In eight innings, he amassed 257 runs at an average of 36.71 and a strike rate of 156.70, including three half-centuries, providing the team with dynamic starts.
The 37-year old will feature in the upcoming series against Sri Lanka, which begins on Friday, August 2 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Earlier, there were reports that star batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli would miss this series. However, after discussions with newly appointed head coach Gautam Gambhir, the duo have confirmed their availability for the ODI matches.
With India scheduled to play only six ODIs before the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, it was crucial for the senior players to be available for this critical series leading up to the major tournament.
After the Indian team’s loss to Australia in the ODI World Cup 2023 final, Rohit will make his return to the ODI squad for the first time since that tournament. However, the Men in Blue were later able to break their 11-year ICC Trophy drought by winning the 2024 T20 World Cup.
