Mysuru Warriors signed Samit Dravid, the son of legendary cricketer Rahul Dravid, during the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 player auction. The middle-order batter and seamer was secured by the runner-up team from last season, Mysuru Warriors, for Rs 50,000.
Samit, an 18-year-old all-rounder, can bowl medium pace and bats in the middle order. As a member of the Karnataka Under-19 squad, he helped the team clinch the 2023-24 Cooch Behar Trophy. Additionally, Samit represented the Karnataka State Cricket Association XI in a three-day match against the visiting Lancashire side in Alur.
Samit will be under the leadership of Karun Nair, who was retained as captain of the Mysuru Warriors. They also sold pacer Prasidh Krisna, who had recently undergone surgery on his left proximal quadriceps tendon, for Rs 1 lakh.
The most expensive player at the auction was LR Chethan, a wicketkeeper-batter who represented the Gulbarga Mystics last season. He was picked by the Bengaluru Blasters for Rs 8.2 lakh. Mayank Agarwal will be leading the Bengaluru Blasters, who retained him along with Suraj Ahuja, Shubhang Hegde, and Mohsin Khan. The Mangaluru Dragons acquired leg-spinner Shreyas Gopal for Rs 7.6 lakh.
The Mystics retained Devdutt Padikkal, who missed the previous season due to an injury. They also retained Vijaykumar Vyshakh and acquired the services of Luvnith Sisodia for Rs 7.2 lakh. Hubli Tigers, the defending champions, signed KC Cariappa for a fee of Rs 4.2 lakh. The Tigers will be led by Manish Pandey and boast the presence of fast bowler Viswath Kaverappa in their lineup.
