Team India’s new head coach Gautam Gambhir had a surprise in store for him when the BCCI media team urged him to come out of his hotel room in Kandy. “Do we have a recording session?” he asked. The former India player questioned again: “What are we up to and what is happening? I wanted to know last night as well.”

The BCCI media team revealed that he has a special message from a special person. Rahul Dravid‘s pre-recorded message was played in front of Gambhir.

“Hello, Gautam, and welcome to the exciting job of coaching Team India. I ended my stint with the Men in Blue after winning the T20 World Cup. I will remember my time with the Indian players. As you start your journey as India coach, I wish you all the best,” he said.

“I hope that you will have the fully fit players in every series. I wish you good luck, as you need it to make you look a bit more wiser and smarter.”

Dravid hailed Gambhir. “I know about your dedication and passion for the Indian cricket,” he added.

Dravid told Gambhir that expectations would be high.

“In case of challenging times, take a step back and smile. I am sure you will take the Indian team forward,” concluded Dravid.

Reacting to the video, Gambhir called Dravid as the most selfless player.

“Rahul Bhai has given his all to the Indian cricket. I don’t get emotional easily but his message made me a lot emotional. I hope to carry his legacy forward. I will try to make the entire nation proud,” Gautam Gambhir said.
