Finally, what the whole country was expecting happened. India's star female shooter Manu Bhaker has shown her prowess in Paris. Manu Bhaker has entered the final of the 10 meter women's air pistol event in the Paris Olympics. 22-year-old Bhaker scored 580 in the qualification and secured the third position. In this event, shooter Veronica Major topped with a score of 582. On the other hand, the other Indian shooter who participated in the same event, Ritam Sangwan, managed to secure the 15th position.

Bhaker leaves Tokyo disappointment behind

Manu Bhaker was able to leave behind the disappointment of the Tokyo Olympics three years ago with her brilliant performance.

In Tokyo, her campaign could not proceed further due to a fault in the pistol, after which she was seen crying. But this time Bhaker was ready. This shooter from Haryana was in fourth place with a score of 97-97 in the first two series.

Bhaker's power was seen in the third series

Bhaker reached the top 2 with a score of 98 in the third series. She shot an eight in the fifth series but she managed to come back with accurate shooting after that and eventually secured the third position.

Bhaker will now have a chance to win an Olympic medal on Sunday.

Disappointing performance of other shooters

Earlier, after the mixed teams in air rifle had a disappointing start to the Olympic Games, Sarabjot Singh and Arjun Singh Cheema could not make it to the final of the men's 10m air pistol. Sarabjot finished ninth with a total score of 577 in the qualification while Arjun finished 18th with a score of 574. Sarabjot had reached the top 3 after scoring a perfect 100 in the fourth series, but the 22-year-old shooter failed to maintain the momentum and missed out on a place in the final by a very narrow margin.

Cheema had also reached the fourth position at one time but he too could not maintain this momentum. Both Cheema and Sarabjot were part of the Indian team that won the 10 meter air pistol team gold medal at the Asian Games in Hangzhou last year. Earlier, Indian shooters were eliminated in the 10 meter air rifle mixed team qualification stage. Two pairs of India were participating in this event. Ramita Jindal and Arjun Babuta finished sixth with a total score of 628.7, while Elavenil Valarivan and Sandeep Singh finished 12th with a total score of 626.3.
