The Men in Blue head to Auckland for the fourth T20I game of the series against New Zealand on Friday night. The team has already wrapped up the series after their four-wicket win in Wellington on Tuesday. Shreyas Iyer will hope to continue with the momentum and win the next game to make it 4-0.
Former India batter Aakash Chopra said the Indian team could rest Arshdeep Singh for the game in Auckland. “Team India can make one change for sure. They can rest Arshdeep for the game and have Mayank Yadav and Prince Yadav play together, because you have to give chances in dead rubbers. Mayank bowled well in the first game. So why not give him a chance? That’s the one change I want to see,” he said.
Mayank Yadav played the first game of the series on 22nd October at the Hagley Oval. The seamer was eventually replaced by Prince Yadav for the next two games of the series. With India having wrapped up the T20I leg, it could be the ideal time for the team management to make a few changes.
Axar Patel has been deployed as the specialist spinner so far on this tour. Chopra said that he wouldn’t bring in a spinner for the fourth game of the series. “Spinners won’t get help here. The bowlers will have to bowl short and make the batters play across the line, which the spinners cannot do,” he said.
“It may not be going well for Bhuvneshwar Kumar so far, but he has to play all five games. Finally, speaking about Ishan Kishan, the former opening batter said, “If he is fit, he should walk into the side, but whom can they drop? That is not an easy decision. They have to make sure Sooryavanshi is accommodated as well, so the team has to rotate well.”
