Team India's head coach Gautam Gambhir has not given a place to all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer in any of the teams selected for the Sri Lanka tour in the Team India ODI and T20 squad.

Before becoming the head coach of Team India, Gautam Gambhir was playing the role of mentor for Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League. Venkatesh Iyer also plays for KKR as a player. Both of them get along well.
Along with this, despite Iyer's excellent performance in the IPL, Gambhir did not give him a place in Team India. In such a situation, Venkatesh Iyer will now be seen playing in England.

Venktesh Iyer will be seen playing county cricket

Due to not getting a place in Team India on the Sri Lanka tour, Venkatesh Iyer has now decided to go to England. Venkatesh Iyer, who opens the innings for Kolkata Knight Riders, has been signed by England's county team Lancashire. All-rounder Venkatesh Iyer will be seen playing for Lancashire for two rounds of the current One-Day Cup and County Championship.

Iyer will make his county debut against Kent on 28 July.

KKR's fellow batsman invited

Iyer was joined in the club by his Kolkata Knight Riders teammate Phil Salt, who was his teammate during the victorious campaign in this year's IPL, where he scored half-centuries against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 1 and the final. Venkatesh Iyer has been signed by Lancashire for five weeks. After this, he will return to India to play the Duleep Trophy.
