Delhi: Indian cricket team's young fast bowler Gurnoor Brar is in the news these days for his excellent performance. His bowling in the ODI series against New Zealand has increased the problems of the opposition batsmen. Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra has given the special reason behind Brar's success. According to him, the bowler's length and ability to give the ball extra bounce from the pitch makes him very effective.
Aakash Chopra told that the biggest strength in Gurnoor Brar's bowling is his high release point and his ability to hit the ball hard on the pitch. Due to this, the ball rises higher than expected and the batsmen have difficulty in playing their shots.
According to Chopra, Brar's balls appear to be around the normal good length, but the extra bounce provided by the pitch surprises the batsmen.
He said, “If India is playing with four fast bowlers, then Brar is brought in to bowl last. There is also the advantage of having two new balls in ODIs.
He hits the ball hard on the pitch and his place of leaving the ball is quite high. He dismissed Tom Latham and Glenn Phillips on short balls.”Chopra further said, “The batsmen think that the ball will be within their reach, but it rises higher than expected. These balls are slightly shorter than the good length, but bounce quickly and uncomfortably. This is why the batsmen are facing problems.”
In the second ODI played in Wellington, Gurnoor Brar gave the best performance of his career, taking 4 wickets for 30 runs in 10 overs.
He sent Tom Latham and Glenn Phillips to the pavilion in the same over. After this Mitchell Santner and Nathan Smith were also dismissed.New Zealand team was reduced to 134 runs.
