Pakistan Cricket Board, Pakistani journalists and Pakistani fans are making various claims regarding Champions Trophy 2025. The tournament is to be held in Pakistan in February-March 2025. For this tournament of only 8 teams, 6 teams are ready to go to Pakistan but the most eagerness is on India's participation. There are big statements from Pakistani media that the Indian team will have to come to Pakistan for the tournament or the tournament will be organized without Team India, but the reality is something else, which the ICC is also aware of and this is the reason why it is surprised by the action of PCB that it has not made any other plan.
Actually, there is no possibility of Team India going to Pakistan. BCCI will need permission from the Indian government for Team India to go to Pakistan and looking at the relations between the two countries at present, this does not seem to be happening. However, big claims have been made by Pakistan. Claims have been made by quoting sources associated with the Pakistan Cricket Board that the board will not be ready for the hybrid model this time and it hopes that the ICC will convince the BCCI to send the team for this tournament.
The ICC is surprised by this attitude of the PCB. Inside Sport's report claims that ICC officials are surprised that the PCB has not prepared any other plan for Team India's participation. If Team India is not ready to go to Pakistan, then in that case the tournament can be organized only on the hybrid model. If the PCB also sticks to its stand, then the BCCI is considered ready to boycott the tournament. Now if Team India does not participate in this tournament, then not only will the tournament lose its charm, but the ICC may suffer a huge loss. In such a situation, there is a possibility of ICC putting pressure on the PCB.
Apart from this, Asia Cup 2025 has also come into discussion now. India got the hosting rights of this tournament a day ago. Voices have started rising in Pakistan regarding this that PCB should also adopt the same attitude for this tournament as BCCI has adopted for the Champions Trophy. But unlike PCB, BCCI is already assuming that the Pakistani board will show some reaction regarding this tournament. A BCCI official told Inside Sport that the board is expecting a retaliation from Pakistan.
