IPL has given players from all over the world including India a chance to show their talent. Many big players of world cricket come to this league and entertain the fans with their performance. Along with this, they also earn millions and crores. Still, there have been some players who have provoked IPL teams and fans many times with their actions and now such players can be banned. This demand has been made by the franchise itself to the Board of Control for Cricket in India and if BCCI agrees, then some players can also be banned. Now the question is why is there a demand for this ban?
The matter is such that an important meeting is going on between BCCI and IPL franchise owners on Wednesday, July 31 in Mumbai. In this meeting, many issues are to be discussed and decided regarding the next season of IPL, in which issues like salary purse for the mega auction, number of players retention, right to match and impact player rules are the most important. Apart from these, the franchise owners can also raise the matter of such foreign players in front of BCCI, who are sold in the auction but suddenly withdraw their names just before the season starts.
According to the Cricbuzz report, the franchise owners can demand the board to take some strict action or make rules on this issue, so that the teams' planning is not spoiled by the withdrawal of a player's name after the auction. Recently, in a meeting with the BCCI CEO, some franchise owners even demanded to ban such players from IPL. Now if all the franchises support this demand and the BCCI agrees to it, then some players may be banned. The BCCI also expressed its intentions by giving this issue a place in the agenda of the meeting.
In the long history of IPL, many foreign players have withdrawn their names from the tournament on different occasions. Some have withdrawn in the middle of the tournament due to family reasons, while some players withdraw their names after being sold in the auction, citing workload management or mental fatigue just before the tournament starts. Players like England's Jason Roy, Alex Hales and Australia's Kane Richardson have done this at least 2-3 times. Now if BCCI listens to the franchise, then these players will never be seen playing in the IPL again.
