Former Team India coach Anshuman Gaikwad was battling blood cancer for a long time and breathed his last on the night of 31 July. Former Indian player and coach Anshuman Gaikwad remained bedridden most of the time in the last few years and his health news was often given on social media by his relatives. After his death, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah and the country's Prime Minister Narendra Modi have expressed their condolences through social media. Along with him, many fellow cricket players have also paid tribute to him.

When the news came on social media that former Team India player Anshuman Gaikwad is suffering from blood cancer, then former Team India captain Kapil Dev, along with fellow players like Sandeep Patil, Madan Lal, Kirti Azad, helped him financially. Along with this, the Board of Control for Cricket in India also gave one crore rupees to this legendary player as help and along with this he was also honored with the Life Time Achievement Award.
If we talk about the cricket career of former Team India player Anshuman Gaekwad, then his career has been very brilliant. He has scored 1985 runs in 40 Test matches for the Indian team at an average of 30.07, during which he has played 2 centuries and 10 half-century innings. Talking about ODIs, he has scored 259 runs in 15 ODI matches. Gaekwad was appointed the head coach of the Indian cricket team by the BCCI from 1997 to 1999.
