Ravi Shastri praises Captain Rohit Sharma: Rohit Sharma's T20 International career for India is over and he did this by making Team India the T20 World Cup champion under his captaincy.

Rohit announced his retirement from T20 International after winning the title. He retired as the most successful captain for Team India in this format and left MS Dhoni behind. Rohit's captaincy has been praised by everyone in recent times and now the name of former Indian player and head coach Ravi Shastri has also been added to this list.

Rohit Sharma's statistics in T20 International are very impressive. As a captain, he captained Team India in 62 matches, winning 42 and losing 19, while 1 match was tied. Rohit's winning percentage was 79.03. In the final of this year's T20 World Cup, India defeated South Africa and ended the drought of not winning the ICC trophy for 11 years. On the other hand, MS Dhoni also made Team India win the T20 World Cup and under his captaincy, India won 41 out of 72 matches and lost 28, while 1 match was tied and 2 had no result.

Ravi Shastri said Rohit Sharma is equal to MS Dhoni in terms of captaincy

In a recent episode of ICC Review, Ravi Shastri opened up about Rohit Sharma's captaincy and also gave his opinion on the comparison with MS Dhoni.

He said, “Rohit Sharma has been brilliant in terms of strategy making. He will be remembered as one of the best captains along with Dhoni. If you ask me who is better, I would say both are equal when it comes to strategy in the white-ball game. I cannot praise Rohit more than this because you know what Dhoni has done and how many titles he has won.”

Let us tell you that Rohit Sharma was appointed as the full-time white ball captain of Team India at the end of 2021. After this, when Virat Kohli left the Test captaincy in early 2022, Rohit was made the captain in all formats. Under Rohit's captaincy, Team India also played the 2023 ODI World Cup final, in which it lost to Australia. However, this time in the T20 World Cup, Rohit did not make any mistake and won his first ICC title as captain.
