Harbhajan Singh lashes out at Pakistani Journalist over security concerns in Pakistan
Harbhajan Singh, a former Indian cricketer, strongly retaliated against a Pakistani journalist who criticised his position over India's involvement in the 2025 Champions Trophy.
Harbhajan, in agreement with the BCCI's choice to refrain from sending the Indian squad to Pakistan, responded sharply to the journalist's effort to ridicule him.
The journalist shared a scorecard from India's 2006 visit to Pakistan, specifically emphasising Shahid Afridi's achievement of hitting Harbhajan for four sixes. This was presented as the "security issue" that Harbhajan was worried about. Harbhajan responded by retweeting the message, including an image of a newspaper story from 2009 that discussed the terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in Pakistan.
He utilised this occurrence to emphasise the authentic security apprehensions in the nation, bolstering his stance against dispatching the Indian squad to Pakistan for the event next year. Harbhajan Singh's X post read:
Pakistan has been allocated the hosting rights for the Champions Trophy 2025, which would be the country's first significant tournament in more than twenty years. Pakistan was prohibited from hosting international matches for a period of ten years as a consequence of the terrorist assault on the Sri Lankan team bus in 2009.
Despite the gradual resumption of international visits to Pakistan, ongoing cross-border tensions with India continue to restrict India from visiting their neighbouring country.
India competed only in Sri Lanka for all of their matches during last year's Asia Cup, which was hosted by Pakistan. The BCCI is promoting the use of neutral locations, like as Sri Lanka or the UAE, for the matches of the Champions Trophy in 2025.
