Indian cricket team's star fast bowler Mohammed Shami is certainly out of Team India due to injury at this time, but fans are eagerly waiting for his return. Now Shami has also broken his silence on his return. Shami had ankle surgery in February, due to which he could not play in the five-match series against England. The 33-year-old Shami is currently at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and is working on his fitness.
A few days ago, a source close to the BCCI had revealed that the board was planning his comeback in the series against Bangladesh but now Shami has revealed that he is yet to get fully fit and once he is fit, he will play a few matches in domestic cricket for Bengal before returning to the national team.“It is difficult to say when I will be back.
I am working hard but hopefully you will see me playing for Bengal before I wear the Indian jersey. I will come to play two-three matches for Bengal and will be fully prepared for it,” Shami told the Times of India.Shami said that his goal was to undergo surgery after the T20 World Cup as he wanted to play in the IPL and the World Cup, but the plan changed after he injured his ankle during the ODI World Cup.
He said, “We never thought that the injury would be so serious. The plan was to heal it after the T20 World Cup because last year after the World Cup, the IPL and the ICC T20 mega event were to be held one after the other. But during the ODI World Cup, this injury worsened and I also did not feel right to play with it. Even the doctors could not understand that the injury would become so serious and it would take so much time to heal.”
