Buttler took a break after
in the Caribbean and the United States. After sustaining the injury, scans showed that he could play in the second-half of the Hundred, but on Saturday, it was confirmed that he would not play.
Earlier, Simon Katich, the coach of the Originals, had planned to rope in left-handed batter Keaton Jennings as a replacement for Buttler.
But the move did not happen and Jennings moved to playing for the London Spirit.
The Originals are yet to name a replacement for Buttler as they get set to lock horns with the Northern Superchargers on Sunday, August 4 at Headingley in Leeds. Buttler has 632 runs from 17 matches in the Hundred with five half-centuries to his name.

The Originals are currently languishing at the bottom of the table with a net run rate of -1.659 courtesy of losses in all three of their matches.
Led by Phil Salt, the Originals are the only team to not have registered a single win in the championship.
Last year, the Originals finished as the runners-up in the Hundred after losing to the Oval Invincibles in the final. This time around, their campaign has gone haywire.
Wayne Madsen is their top run-getter in the ongoing edition, having notched 76 runs from three games at an average of 38 and a strike-rate of 108.57.
Left-arm spinner Tom Hartley is on top of the wicket-taker's list for the Originals with four scalps to his name.
