9 days of play have ended in Paris Olympics 2024 and 7 days of play are left. India has not been able to achieve much success in the events held so far. In many sports, it has had to be out after coming close to the medal. On 4th August i.e. the 9th day, Indian shooters had a chance to win a medal, but they could not qualify for the final. At the same time, Lakshya Sen and Lovlina Borgohain failed to secure their medals. Apart from this, there was disappointment in athletics, golf and shooting as well. However, the Indian hockey team gave a big good news.

Success in hockey

The biggest success on the 9th day of Paris Olympics was the victory of the Indian hockey team, which defeated Great Britain in the quarter-finals and made it to the semi-finals.

This match was very exciting. After the completion of the fourth quarter, the match ended in a 1-1 draw. After this, India defeated Great Britain 4-2 in the penalty shootout. Goalkeeper PR Sreejesh made many hair-raising saves for India. It was because of his saves during the shootout that Team India was able to take the lead and win. There were some controversies in this match, regarding which the Indian team has also complained to the Olympic Committee.

Lakshya Sen lost in a thrilling match

In the men's badminton singles, the semi-final match was held between Indian shuttler Lakshya Sen and Olympic defending champion Victor Axelsen of Denmark. Lakshya lost 2-0 in a thrilling match. He had a great lead in the first and second sets, but Axelsen used his experience to win the match. If Lakshya had won, he would have been assured of a medal along with entering the final. However, his journey is not over yet. Now he will be seen playing against Malaysian shuttler Lee Zii Jia in the bronze medal match.

This match will be held on August 5, which means he still has a chance to win a medal.

Lovlina also out

India's hopes of winning a medal in boxing were completely shattered. In the quarter-finals of women's boxing, Lovlina lost to a Chinese boxer. With this defeat, she missed out on ensuring a medal. With this match, she would have got entry into the semi-finals and at least a bronze would have been confirmed. With Lovlina winning a bronze medal in Tokyo, India's dream of winning a medal in boxing has also been shattered.

Disappointment was also found in these games

On the 9th day of Paris Olympics, apart from badminton and boxing, India also faced disappointment in some other sports including shooting.

Indian shooters could not qualify for the finals of women's and men's shooting. In the men's shooting 25 meter rapid fire pistol event, Vijayveer Sidhu finished the game at 9th and Anish Bhanwala at 13th position, whereas only the top-6 shooters could go to the finals. Apart from this, Maheshwari Chauhan and Raiza Dhillon could not qualify for the finals in the women's shooting skeet event. Maheshwari finished at 14th and Raiza at 23rd position, whereas it was necessary to be in the top-6 to go to the finals.

Shubhankar Sharma and Gaganjeet Bhullar have also been eliminated in golf. Parul Chaudhary and Jaswin Aldrin also disappointed in athletics. Jaswin finished 13th in the men's long jump event and failed to reach the finals. Parul finished 8th in the 3000 meter women's steeplechase event and could not reach the finals.
