In the ODI series against Sri Lanka, Team India fans would have never thought that their team would be in such a bad condition. Fans would never have thought that the Indian team would not be able to win the ODI series. This happened after losing the second ODI match in Colombo. The first match was a tie and the host team won the second match, meaning now Team India will have to win the third match at any cost to save the series. But it is not so easy now and the reason for this is Gautam Gambhir's strategy which has proved to be very costly in the T20 series.
The biggest mistake made by head coach Gautam Gambhir in the ODI series is the drastic tampering with Team India's batting order.
Talking about the second ODI, Gautam Gambhir sent Shivam Dubey at number 4, after which he brought in Axar Patel and players like Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul came to bat at number 6 and 7.Even in the first ODI match, Gautam Gambhir did not tamper with the batting order of Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli, but after that he brought Washington Sundar at number 4. Due to this, the batting order of Iyer and KL Rahul slipped down.
It is clear that Team India suffered due to this. Now it remains to be seen what is the strategy of Team India in the last ODI match. The Indian team is facing the threat of losing an ODI series in Sri Lanka after 27 years. India had to face defeat in an ODI series against Sri Lanka for the last time in 1997. The team led by Arjuna Ranatunga then defeated Sachin Tendulkar's Indian team in all three matches. Since then, 11 ODI series have been played between India and Sri Lanka and the Indian team has won all of them.
