Independence Day or August 15 in 2020 is remembered for one of the biggest announcements in Indian cricket. It was the date when former India captain Mahedra Singh Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket after almost a year in limbo - his last international appearance being the 2019 ICC ODI Cricket World Cup semifinal loss.
In a online line statement posted on social media at 7.29pm IST on August 15, 2020, Dhoni wrote, "Thanks a lot for ur love and support throughout.from 1929 hrs consider me as Retired."
