PCB informed that the decision was taken in regards to the ongoing construction at the venue ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy, which will be held in Pakistan next year. The Pakistan Cricket Board has allocated approximately 17 billion rupees for upgrading its stadiums in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi ahead of the ICC event.
"We understand the vital role that our passionate spectators play in cricket, providing inspiration and motivation to our players.
However, the health and safety of our fans is our utmost priority," the board said in a statement.
Why no spectators for PAK vs BAN 2nd Test?
The ticket sales of the 2nd Test match have been suspended with immediate effect, which is scheduled to be played from August 30th to September 3. The PCB informed that the fans who have already purchased the tickets will be provided with refunds.
"After careful consideration of all available options, we have decided that the safest course of action is to hold the second Test in front of an empty stadium." The board said.
"Fans who have already purchased tickets will receive a full refund automatically, with the amount credited to the account details provided at the time of purchase," the board said.
