Fun and exciting cricket is being seen in the T20 tournament being played in Delhi these days. While famous names of international cricket and IPL like Rishabh Pant, Ishant Sharma, Yash Dhul, Ayush Badoni are playing in this T20 league, DPL of Delhi and District Cricket Association, many domestic and local cricketers of Delhi are also showing their talent. The havoc of one such player was seen on Tuesday 20 August, when he defeated Rishabh Pant's team with his all-round performance. However, Pant was not playing in this match. Playing for East Delhi Riders, all-rounder Mayank Rawat led his team to victory by 5 wickets.
In the first match of the double header on Tuesday, Old Delhi batted first. Due to rain, this match was reduced to 18-18 overs and the team of Old Delhi failed to put up a big score. Rishabh Pant, who captained the team in the first match, was not a part of this match. He joined the team only for the first match but even then the team lost. Even after his departure, the luck did not change. Batting first, Old Delhi scored 142 runs after losing 8 wickets. For them, number eight Mayank Gusain scored 35 and number nine Yug Gupta scored 34 runs, only then this score was made.
Fast bowler Simarjit Singh was the most successful from East Delhi. Simarjit, who played for Chennai Super Kings with MS Dhoni in IPL, took 3 wickets for 28 runs in 4 overs. Mayank Rawat and Harsh Tyagi took 2 wickets each. After bowling brilliantly, Mayank got a chance to show his batting prowess, that too in a situation when the team had lost 4 wickets for just 47 runs. In such a situation, Mayank, who came at number six, created a stir with his bat. Mayank scored a stormy 55 runs in just 27 balls and while remaining not out, led the team to victory in just 16 overs.
Mayank hit 5 fours and 4 sixes in his innings.Talking about Mayank Rawat, he is famous for his explosive batting in Delhi cricket. He created a stir by scoring 408 runs not out in just 139 balls in an ODI match. Not only this, he has also played Under-19 cricket for India. He was even a part of Team India in the 2018 Under-19 World Cup, where he was in the team with players like Shubman Gill, Prithvi Shaw, Arshdeep Singh and Abhishek Sharma. India won that World Cup but Mayank did not get a chance in the entire tournament.
