Ajit Agarkar: Indian team's veteran player Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from T20 International after the T20 World Cup 2024. After which the captaincy of the T20 format was given to star batsman Suryakumar Yadav. Surya got the captaincy in the 3 T20 match series against Sri Lanka and the team won this series.

However, there was a lot of uproar after Surya got the captaincy. Because, all the fans believed that all-rounder player Hardik Pandya would get the captaincy. At the same time, now the news is coming that there was also a dispute between chief selector Ajit Agarkar and BCCI secretary Jay Shah regarding Hardik's captaincy.

Ajit Agarkar received a threat!

There has been some controversy between Ajit Agarkar and BCCI over making Team India's all-rounder Hardik Pandya the captain. Due to which a media report is claiming that before the Sri Lanka series, some BCCI staff and Jay Shah wanted to make Hardik Pandya the captain of the T20 format.

But Ajit Agarkar and head coach Gautam Gambhir insisted on making Suryakumar Yadav the captain. After which Agarkar also received threats to remove him from his post. This is being claimed in media reports. However, Suryakumar Yadav has been given the captaincy of Team India.

It will be decided by the Bangladesh series!

Team India now has to play the next T20 series with Bangladesh from October 6.

For which the squad of Team India can be announced very soon. One thing will be decided from the Bangladesh series that whoever gets the captaincy of the team in this series, that player will be the captain of India in the T20 format. Now it has to be seen whether Suryakumar Yadav or Hardik Pandya gets the captaincy.

Was not made captain due to injury

A press conference was held before the Sri Lanka tour. In which Team India's chief selector Ajit Agarkar was also present.

When he was asked about not making Hardik the captain, he said, "He is still a very important player for us. Fitness has obviously been a challenge for him. Then it becomes difficult for the coach or selectors. Fitness is an obvious challenge and we want someone who is available often."

He further added, “Having said that, we believe Surya has the qualities required to be a captain. We also feel we can manage Hardik better. We have seen what he can do with the bat and ball in the World Cup. We talk to every player to see if his role has changed and yes, we have talked to him.”
