Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto was unhappy with his batters’ performance in the second Test against India. However, he also revealed two positives from the series. Play was not possible on Day 2 and Day 3 of the Kanpur Test, and 35 overs were bowled on the first day at the Green Park Stadium.
However, India beat the visitors by 7 wickets to clinch the series 2-0, having won by 280 runs in Chennai.
Bangladesh were fresh from a stunning 2-0 Test series win over Pakistan, but the Men in Blue didn’t let them settle down.
“Our batters played a lot of balls in the second Test but didn’t stay at the crease to score runs. If they had tried to amass runs, we would have had a chance to avoid defeat,” he said.
Shanto was asked about the positives. “Mominul Haque scoring a hundred in the first innings of the second Test was good to see. Mehidy Hasan Miraz was magnificent throughout the series. I hope he continues to give this kind of performance in the future,” he added.
Miraz took 9 wickets in two games and also showed his talent with the bat. On the other hand, Mominul managed 107 runs in the first innings of the second game.
Bangladesh will now compete with India in three T20Is.
