In his 150th IPL match on Wednesday, star Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal broke Shane Warne’s elite record to become the Rajasthan Royals‘ third-highest wicket-taker in league history. Playing at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium against the Gujarat Titans, Chahal claimed two key wickets while conceding 43 runs in his four-over spell.

Shane Warne made 55 appearances and took 57 wickets for the Rajasthan Royals during his playing career in the IPL. In contrast, Yuzvendra Chahal, who was signed by the Royals in the IPL 2022 mega auction, has already claimed 58 wickets in just 36 matches for the franchise.

In his debut season with the Rajasthan Royals in 2022, Chahal dismissed 27 batters to win the coveted Purple Cap for being the leading wicket-taker. This year, with 10 wickets already in just 5 matches, he leads the race for the Purple Cap. Chahal now ranks third in the all-time list of wicket-takers for the Royals, behind only Siddharth Trivedi (65) and Shane Watson (61).
