IND vs AUS: Indore’s record broken in Adelaide, shortest test played between India and Australia

The second match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia was played at the Adelaide Oval, which the Australian team won by 10 wickets in the first session of the third day itself. With this victory, the five-match series became level at 1-1. With Australia's victory in the Adelaide Test, a unique record has also been created. In the Test matches played so far between India and Australia, the least number of balls were bowled in the Adelaide Test and thus it proved to be the shortest Test match between the two countries so far.

Only 1031 balls were played in this test. The Australian team played more balls than India. India's first innings was reduced to 180 runs in 44.1 overs. Whereas Australia's second innings ended in 87.3 overs. After this, India scored 175 runs in 36.5 overs in the second innings. Whereas Australia got the target of 19 runs in the second innings, which it achieved in 3.2 overs. In this way, a total of 1031 balls were bowled in the four innings and this match became the shortest Test (in terms of balls) between the two countries.

Indore test record broken

In this case, the record of Indore Test which was played between the two teams in March 2023 has been broken. Last year, a match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy held in India was played at Holkar Stadium in Indore. A total of 1135 balls were played in this match. This test was also won by the Australian team. Earlier in 2012, 1200 balls were played in Perth, in 2004, 1213 balls were played in Mumbai and in 2020, 1246 balls were played in Adelaide.

Australia won Adelaide Test by 10 wickets

By winning the Adelaide Test, Australia took revenge for the defeat of Team India in the Perth Test.

Australia scored 337 runs after bowling out India for 180 runs in the first innings. Then Team India's second innings was limited to 175 runs. After this, Australia achieved the target of 19 runs in the second innings without losing any wicket and won the match by 10 wickets. The hero of Australia's victory was Travis Head, who played an innings of 140 runs. The star pacer took a total of 8 wickets including 6 wickets in the first innings while captain Pat Cummins took a total of 7 wickets including 5 in the second innings.
