India secured a commanding 49-run victory over the West Indies in the first women's T20I on Sunday in Navi Mumbai. During the match, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur had to leave the field, but Smriti Mandhana later provided an injury update.

India posted a total of 195 for 4 and in the final overs captain Harmanpreet was at the crease managing to score 13 runs. She had a difficult time middling the ball but did well to get a boundary to take the score close to 200.

However, she was not present on the field during West Indies' run-chase, leaving vice-captain Smriti Mandhana to step in and lead the team.

Mandhana at the post-match presentation did provided an update but didn't reveal any details of what actually happened to her.

"She (Harmanpreet) is doing fine. She is being taken care of by the medical team and hopefully will be fine soon'', she said.

Back in October, the 35-year-old Harmanpreet injured her neck in a T20 World Cup game against Pakistan. We have to wait and watch till further confirmations.

Speaking of the match, opting to bat first, Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues struck half-centuries to propel India to an imposing total of 195.

Mandhana played a blistering knock, smashing two sixes and seven fours in her 33-ball 54, marking her 28th T20I half-century and giving India a strong start. After her dismissal, Jemimah Rodrigues took charge, maintaining the scoring momentum with an impressive 73 off 35 deliveries, which included nine boundaries and two sixes.

In response, West Indies' Deandra Dottin (52) and Qiana Joseph (49) put up a spirited fight, keeping their team in contention. However, they ultimately fell short, finishing at 146 for 7 in their 20 overs.

India's bowling attack was led by Titas Sadhu, who picked up 3 for 37, while Deepti Sharma (2 for 21) and Radha Yadav (2 for 28) provided crucial support to seal the victory.
