Kusal Perera has made a splash in the very first international match of the new year. He has scored a stormy century in the third T20 against New Zealand. This century of Perera is the fastest century scored by a Sri Lankan batsman in T20 International. Filled with speed, he wrote the script of his T20 International century in just 44 balls. Kusal Perera's century innings, played at a strike rate of 219.56, included 13 fours and 4 sixes. The special thing is that this is the first century of Kusal Perera's T20 International career.
Kusal Perera has also broken the 14 year old Sri Lankan record with his fast, sharp and explosive century. In fact, by scoring a T20I century in 44 balls, he may not have become number one in the world in this matter. But, Sri Lankans have definitely gone ahead in cricket. He has broken the record of Tillakaratne Dilshan in scoring the fastest T20 International century. Dilshan had scored a century in 55 balls against Australia in 2011.
The third T20I between Sri Lanka and New Zealand is the first international match of the year 2025. And, exactly the way cricket should start in the new year has been seen. In this match, a stormy century was seen and there was also a rain of runs. Kusal Perera has also become the first batsman to score an international century in the year 2025.
