Sunrisers Hyderabad have won three matches in the Indian Premier League 2024. The team is full of power hitters, and they posted the highest total in the history of the cash-rich league. The Hyderbad-based franchise scored 277/3 against Mumbai Indians and won by 31 runs.
Travis Head (62 off 24), Abhishek Sharma (63 off 23) and Heinrich Klaasen (80 off 34) played attacking innings.
Klaasen has batted well for the franchise. Apart from the IPL, the South African batter has been ruling the batting charts in white-ball cricket. He showed his class for the Proteas in the ICC World Cup 2023 and then carried his form to SA20.
He returned to SRH in sublime touch and is scoring his runs at a strike rate above 190. Despite his star status, he is learning from the young Indian batters Abhishek Sharma and Nitish Reddy; Abhishek has hit 16 sixes in five games, while Reddy has hit 5 in the only game he has played for the franchise.
In his conversation with Crizbuzz, Klaasen lauded the two batters.
‘They are hitting the ball nicely. I am amazed to see their range in the nets. I also pick up something they do right and added it to my game. You are never too old to learn from others. It doesn’t matter if the players are younger than you. You can still add things to your batting by looking at them.”
Pat Cummins is the new skipper of SRH and he has led the franchise from the front. He has been inspirational and is making full use of his experience of playing in India.
