Delhi: In the second ODI of Women's Ashes 2025, Australia defeated England by 21 runs and took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. This match was played on 14 January at Junction Oval, Melbourne. Australia, batting first, set a target of 181 runs, in response to which the England team was all out for 159 runs. Australian bowler Alana King, who performed brilliantly, was chosen player of the match. He took 4 wickets for 25 runs in 10 overs.

After winning the toss, England decided to bowl first.

Australia started well and Phoebe Litchfield and Alyssa Healy added 43 runs for the first wicket. However, Lauren Bell gave the first success to England by dismissing Healy (29) on the first ball of the 9th over. After this, Australia lost wickets at regular intervals and the entire team was bundled out for 180 runs in 44.3 overs.

Ellyse Perry scored the highest 60 runs for Australia. He hit 5 fours and 2 sixes in his innings of 74 balls. Phoebe Lichfield and Alyssa Healy also added 29 runs each, while Beth Mooney and Annabel Sutherland could only score 12 and 11 runs respectively.

England's bowling was excellent. Sophie Ecclestone took 4 wickets for 35 runs with 2 maidens in 10 overs. Alice Capsey took 3 wickets, while Lauren Bell and Lauren Filer got 2 and 1 wicket respectively.

England had a very bad start while chasing 181 runs. Due to continuous fall of wickets the team was all out for 159 runs. For England, Amy Jones scored the highest unbeaten 47* runs, while Nate Sciver-Brunt contributed 35 runs.

In Australia's bowling, Alana King put England in trouble by taking 4 wickets. Along with him, Kim Garth also performed brilliantly and took 3 wickets.
