If Shikhar Dhawan remains sidelined for a week, he might miss two PBKS home matches in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024: one against Mumbai Indians on April 18 and another against Gujarat Titans on April 21.
Despite his recent struggles with the bat in IPL 2024, where Shikhar Dhawan has scored 152 runs from five innings at an average of 30.40 and a strike rate of 125.61, Dhawan's wealth of experience in the IPL will be sorely missed by Punjab Kings. His potential absence for the next two matches is expected to have an impact on the team's performance.
Asked if the misfiring top-order batting is a cause for concern, he said: “In all the three games that we’ve played here (Mullanpur), in the first six overs, with the new ball, the wicket tends to jag a little bit, and there’s uneven bounce as well. So maybe that is another contributing factor."
He added: “We obviously discuss the scoring options on such tracks, and that is where the boys are putting in a lot of effort. Currently, it’s not coming off, but I’m pretty sure that they’re just one knock away.”
