Delhi: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday confirmed that the reconstruction work of Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore has been successfully completed and is now fully prepared to host international matches. The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is left for less than two weeks to start, but PCB has completed the renewal of stadium in a record 117 days.

According to PCB, modern facilities are now available in the stadium, including new floodlights, hospitality box, increased audience capacity, electronic scoreboard and state -of -the -art LED towers.

PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi thanked all the people who contributed to the completion of this work on time, especially 1000 workers who made it possible by working hard day and night.

The stadium has to be handed over to the ICC by 12 February, as the tournament will start a week later. Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will officially inaugurate the stadium at a function on Friday.

The first official match of the Gaddafi Stadium will be on February 8, when Pakistan and New Zealand will be face to face in the first match of the tri-series.

This series includes South Africa as the third team.

Apart from this, the National Stadium will be inaugurated in Karachi on 11 February, in which President Asif Zardari is expected to join.
