Pakistan has rectified its mistake of not putting the Indian flag at the National Stadium in Karachi. In a recent move, the Indian flag has been placed alongside the flags of the other participating nations. Pakistan Cricket Board was slammed for not putting up the flag of the neighbouring country despite their team playing in the tournament.
The PCB had said that teams competing in Pakistan would have their flag raised at the venue. With India set to play in Dubai, the apex body of Pakistan cricket tried to justify their move.
“As you know, India will not be playing their matches in Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the three stadiums in Karachi, Rawalpindi and Lahore will hoist flags of the countries that will compete in the country,” a PCB source was quoted as saying by IANS.
When asked the reason behind the missing flag of Bangladesh, the source said, “Bangladesh hasn’t arrived in Pakistan and they will play their first match against India in Dubai. Therefore, their flag has not been raised.”
The BCCI vice-chairman Rajeev Shukla reacted to the controversy.
“PCB should be confirmed whether the Indian flag was not there or not. If it was not there, then it should be put. All the participating nations’ flags should be there,” he said.
