Pakistan's participation in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 was marked by disappointments, as the host nation could not win a single match and was out of the competition within five days.

It was unlikely to be an encouraging development on the part of the team, especially when one considered it was the first time in 29 years that Pakistan was given the ICC event hosting rights. Nevertheless, despite its disappointing performance, the team is in line to enjoy a financial bonanza.

Prize money increase by over 53%

After an eight-year hiatus, the Champions Trophy returns, with the ICC hiking its prize pool by over 53%.

So now even the teams that do not qualify for the knockout stage are entitled to a fairly considerable monetary award.

Pakistan to get more than $265,000

Although Pakistan could not register a single win in the tournament, the team is still going to receive $140,000, just like the other teams that failed to make it to the knockout stage. Besides, every participating team is entitled to a base amount of $125,000. This means that, in total, Pakistan will collect $265,000, which amounts to over INR 2.31 crore in Indian currency.

Meanwhile, the winners of the Champions Trophy will get $2.24 million, about double what the runners-up will receive: $1.12 million.

Pakistan-Bangladesh match cancelled because of rain

Pakistan's final group-stage match against Bangladesh, slated to be played in Rawalpindi, was submerged in rain and didn't even make it to the toss stage, marking a disappointing end to the Pakistan campaign. This unfortunate occurrence meant that the host nation finished the event without a single win, raising further questions regarding their international form.
