As the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 comes to a finish, the decider Semi-final against Australia, Team India lost the toss today. As Australia chose to bat, Connolly was dismissed by Shami with no runs in the fourth over.

Followed by Travis Head who came with a mode to attack, India was met with boundaries and maximums. Ending his streak at 39, Shubman Gill received a warning from the on-field umpires.

Running to catch the ill-timed shot from Head, Gill caught the ball clearly dismissing him. But shortly after, he released the ball too quickly after completing the catch. Fielding at long-off, Gill took a clean catch but threw the ball early, prompting the umpires' intervention.

MCC law warning to Shubman Gill

The Model Code of Conduct (MCC) law states that the act of making a catch shall start from the time when the ball first comes into contact with a fielder’s person and shall end when a fielder obtains complete control over both the ball and his/her own movement.

When batter Shubman Gill took this running catch, he fully dismissed Travis Head on the long-on but also received a warning to remind him of the MCC law by the on-field umpires.
