Brydon Carse Ruled Out of IPL 2025; SRH Picks Wiaan Mulder as Replacement

The 29-year-old Brydon has been ruled out of the IPL 2025 as he suffered a left-toe injury during the Champions Trophy 2025.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad who bought Brydon Carse for INR 1 crore, has signed Wiaan Mulder as a like-for-like replacement.

The injury was managed and he took the field for the team’s Champions Trophy opener against Australia, where he conceded 69 runs from Seven overs. He was eventually ruled out of the remaining tournament of the competition as his injury worsened.

“Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) picked Wiaan Mulder as a replacement for Brydon Carse for the upcoming edition of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.”

“Carse is ruled out of the TATA IPL 2025 due to an injury and his replacement Mulder, who is an all-rounder, will join SRH for INR 75 Lakh,” the IPL’s statement read.

Meanwhile Wiaan Mulder was South Africa’s joint-highest wicket-taker, with six wickets, in their run to the Champions Trophy semi finals.

Mulder has played 128 T20s, scoring 2172 and taking 67 wickets.

This will be his maiden stint in the IPL. He also been part of SA20, Mzansi Super League and England’s Vitality Blast.

Mulder who has registered for INR 75 lakhs at the IPL 2025 mega auction but he went unsold. However, he is set to make his IPL debut during this season.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad will play their first match of the IPL 2025 campaign against Rajasthan Royals on March 23 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

This will be his maiden stint in the IPL. He also been part of SA20, Mzansi Super League and England’s Vitality Blast.
