The team of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has been ruled out of the tournament after losing in the 18th match of the Women's Premier League 2025. In the match played at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Saturday, 8 March, UP Warriors (UP-W) defeated Smriti Mandhana's team by 12 runs and thus the RCB team lost 5 consecutive matches and got out of the playoff race.
After being called to bat first, UP scored a huge score of 225/5 in its scheduled 20 overs thanks to a brilliant innings of Georgia Wol (99*off 56 balls). In response, RCB reached very close to chasing the record target, but eventually the entire team collapsed for 213 runs in 19.3 overs, in which Richa Ghosh scored 69 (33) runs.
With this defeat, the last winners were eliminated from the tournament by finishing in the last place in the points table with four points with just two wins. RCB, who came out to chase 226 runs, did not start well and lost her captain Smriti Mandhana (4 wickets for 4 runs) in the third over cheaply.
However, Ellis Perry (28 runs for 15 runs) and Sabbabhneni Meghna (27 runs for 12) tried to maintain the run rate from their aggressive innings. After her dismissal, RCB scored 76/3 in 6.5 overs when Richa Ghosh came to the crease. Despite failing to get any support from the other end, he continued his hitting by attacking UP bowlers. The wicketkeeper batsman played an aggressive innings of 69 (33) runs, including six fours and five sixes but his innings also proved insufficient in winning RCB.
As a result, UP finished fourth in the points table with three out of eight matches. Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants and Mumbai Indians have qualified for the playoffs of the event.
