Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer has said before the start of IPL 2025 that some such things were spread against him which was wrong. An attempt was made to make a perception against him. However, he managed to make a comeback on the strength of his hard work. Shreyas Iyer said in an interview to PTI, 'Perhaps the perception was made or perhaps I was typed. But I always trusted my strength and abilities. His ability to play short balls was questioned in the last few years, but he proved everyone wrong with his performance. In recent eight ODIs, including the domestic series against England and the Champions Trophy, Shreyas scored at an average of 53 while batting at number 4.

He said, 'An athlete has to develop continuously as the dynamics of the game change. I am happy that I maintained positive thinking and trusted my process.

Iyer said- number 4 favorite

Shreyas Iyer said that he feels the best in batting at number 4. He scored 530 runs in the 2023 World Cup, and recently he was India's top scorer in the Champions Trophy. He said, 'I think I am made to bat at number 4. It gives me a feeling that I show the best game here. During the Champions Trophy, Shreyas played an important role in the strike rotation against the spin bowlers.

He said, 'My experience of playing on a grassless wicket in Mumbai worked. I had learned in the beginning that footwork should be strong to play on such pitches.

Expected to return to Test cricket?

Shreyas Iyer's Test career has also been good. In 14 Tests, he has scored a century and five half -centuries at an average of 37. When asked about his expectations to join the team for the five-Test series against England in June-July, he said, 'I do not want to think much about the things that come ahead.

Right now I am focusing on playing my role with Punjab Kings. Shreyas told that he enjoys life besides cricket. He said, 'Life is also outside cricket, family, friends, hobbies and magic tricks. I enjoy these brakes.
