Delhi: In IPL 2025, the difficulties of fast bowlers are increasing, because most of the matches have been high-scoring so far this season. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) all -rounder Shardul Thakur, while raising his voice on behalf of the bowlers, has requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to avoid unilateral matches in the name of entertainment and give bowlers a chance to equal.
In the press conference before the first domestic match of Lucknow Super Giants, Thakur said that the bowlers should get such pitches where they too can compete against the batsmen.
He said, “This is not mine, but the demand of all the bowlers. Many bowlers do not speak much or they do not get a chance to express their opinion in the media. But we just want the pitches to be balanced, so that the game is of equal. It is not that only the batsmen rule and the bowler looks helpless.”
More than 200 runs have been scored in the first 11 matches of IPL 2025.
Sunrisers Hyderabad scored 286 runs in their first match, which was the second biggest innings in IPL history. In the last season (2024), a score of 200+ was scored 41 times in 74 matches, causing the difficulties of the bowlers.Thakur described the impact player rule as a “factor of entertainment”, but said that because of this rule, not only high-scoring games are happening, but the real reasons are flat pitches.
He said, “An additional batsman is playing in every team due to the impact player rule.
Whether you are batting first or chasing the target, the batting is deep into the batting. The impact player rule is an entertainment factor and the game changes a lot. But, 250+ scores are not just because of this rule, but the real reason is not the real reason for the batsmen.”Shardul Thakur did not find any buyer in the IPL 2025 auction, but Lucknow Super Giants included him in the team after fast bowler Mohit Khan was out.
Thakur has taken 6 wickets in two matches played so far, including 4 wickets against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
