The right-handed batsman has played 19 T20 International matches so far, in which he has scored 500 runs at a strike rate of 140. Gaikwad was the first Indian batsman to score a T20I century against Australia. The Pune batsman scored his first international century in November 2023.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, 46-year-old Aakash Chopra said, “So Ruturaj Gaikwad will, without any doubt, be my first player on whom I will keep an eye on. He is a gun player and is batting well. He is not the frontrunner, but is part of the T20 World Cup list and should be kept. Also, he scored a century against Australia, everyone talks about him, so why not him?”

Chopra picked Gaikwad as the key player for CSK as they face Lucknow Super Giants on April 19 at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. Akash talked about his recent form.

He further said, “My focus is on number 1 player Ruturaj Gaikwad. The first reason for this is the form of the last match. Secondly, it is a big ground. On a big ground, you expect more from a batsman who times the ball and plays with good gaps.”
