Harry Brook, who was recently appointed as England’s ODI and T20I captain, admitted that missing this year’s IPL was a tough call, but it was necessary. Despite being signed by Delhi Capitals for INR 6.5 crore, Brook withdrew shortly before IPL 2025. As a result, he became the first player to receive a two-year IPL ban under a newly introduced regulation.

Brook explained that managing his workload was important, as he’s played a lot of cricket in the past 18 months. Brook also mentioned that he is unsure how much franchise cricket he will play in the future, as his priority is to represent England.

“Stepping away from the IPL this time felt like the right move for me. It definitely wasn’t a straightforward decision, but I’ve had to consider my workload. I’ve played a lot of cricket over the last 18 months, and with more ahead, it’s important I manage myself properly,” he explained.

When asked about his future in franchise leagues, Brook remained clear about his priorities. “I’m not certain how much franchise cricket I’ll be involved in going forward, but my priority remains playing for England and giving my all for the national side.”

Harry Brook was named England’s new white-ball captain after Jos Buttler stepped down following the Champions Trophy. The 26-year-old said it was a proud moment and accepted the role with enthusiasm.

Brook also expressed his gratitude and excitement about the next phase in his career. “It’s a really special moment not just for me but for everyone who’s supported me along the way. I’m excited for what’s ahead and ready to embrace the opportunities that come.”

He also touched on the uncertainty leading up to his appointment. “There was a bit of uncertainty.

I got a call from Keysy and Baz, and once they shared the news, I accepted it wholeheartedly.
