Ellyse Perry joins Hampshire for Women’s T20 Blast, One Day Cup

Australia legendary all-rounder Ellyse Perry will feature in English tournaments - Women's Vitality Blast and One Day Cup - this summer for Hampshire.

This year will mark the first edition of these tournaments in women's cricket in England.

Hampshire is one of the leading clubs in both tournaments, where they have made the finals twice in the One Day Cup and won the Vitality Blast three times in men's cricket. This was enough to catch the attention of the 34-year-old all-rounder and eight-time World Champion to join the team ahead of the first edition. Perry mentioned that she is looking forward to joining the team and also stated that the club has been a leader in Women's cricket already.

"I'm really looking forward to joining the team this summer, The club has been a leader within the women's game for the last ten years and I'm excited to have the opportunity join the team at such an exciting time for domestic cricket in England," Perry told the club's website ahead of the tournament.

Ellyse Perry is not the only one who is excited to play for the club.

Hampshire's interim coach Paul Prichard is also looking forward to welcoming the Aussie great into the team. He said that Perry is among the best cricketers in the world and also mentioned how much the young players within the squad will learn from her.

"Ellyse is one of the world's best cricketers and we are looking forward to welcoming her to the team this summer. Her record across all formats speaks for itself, and she will add a tremendous amount of value on and off the pitch. Our group of young players will learn so much from Ellyse, and I know our fans will be incredibly excited to see her in a Hawks shirt," Prichard said.
