In the 34th match of IPL 2024, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by eight wickets. In this match held at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Friday (April 19), Chennai had given the host team a target of 177 runs to win, which it achieved on the last ball of the 19th over. This was Lucknow’s fourth win in seven matches, on the other hand, it was Chennai’s third defeat in seven matches.
Captain KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock gave a great start to the Lucknow team while chasing the target. There was a partnership of 134 runs in 15 overs between Rahul and De Kock. This partnership completely turned the match in favor of Lucknow. Rahul scored the maximum of 82 runs in 53 balls, which included 9 fours and three sixes. Whereas De Kock played an innings of 54 runs in 43 balls. De Kock hit 5 fours and one six in his innings. Nicholas Pooran remained unbeaten on 23 and Marcus Stoinis remained unbeaten on eight runs.
Along with this, Lucknow also proved its tag line ‘Adab Se Harayenge’ with this victory, Chennai bowlers were seen yearning to take wickets in the entire match. In this match, KL Rahul played a captaincy inning of 82 runs on 53 balls, while also taking 2 wickets behind the wicket. In one record, Rahul even left behind Thala i.e. Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Dhoni’s brilliant innings, Jadeja hits fifty
Earlier, after losing the toss and batting first, Chennai Super Kings scored 176 runs for six wickets. Ravindra Jadeja played an unbeaten inning of 57 runs for CSK. Jadeja hit five fours and one six in his innings of 40 balls. Ajinkya Rahane played a stormy inning of 36 runs and Moeen Ali played a stormy inning of 30 runs. Mahendra Singh Dhoni also scored unbeaten 28 runs on 9 balls. Dhoni hit three fours and two sixes in his innings. Krunal Pandya took maximum three wickets for Lucknow. Whereas Mohsin Khan, Marcus Stoinis, Ravi Bishnoi and Yash Thakur got one wicket each.

For this match, Lucknow Super Giants included New Zealand fast bowler Matt Henry in their playing-11. Henry replaced Shamar Joseph. On the other hand, Chennai made some changes in its team. English all-rounder Moeen Ali got a chance in place of Daryl Mitchell. Whereas Deepak Chahar got a chance in place of Shardul Thakur.
