Hardik Pandya, the captain of Mumbai Indians, fulfilled his promise to Kashvee Gautam by presenting her with a bat before her likely debut for India. Kashvee, who had asked Pandya for the bat during the Women’s Premier League (WPL) earlier this year, was overjoyed to receive the thoughtful gift from the all-rounder.
Kashvee Gautam, an all-rounder for Gujarat Giants in the WPL, considers Hardik a source of inspiration. Following a standout season with the team, she earned her first call-up to the Indian squad as part of their preparations for the Women’s ODI World Cup, set to take place in India later this year.
MI skipper Pandya got the chance to meet Kashvee during the Gujarat Giants match in the WPL 2025. Hardik was informed by her teammates that he was Kashvee’s role model and she engraved “HP33” on her bat. Touched by the gesture, Pandya promised Kashvee that he would modify one of his bats to match her preference of 1100 grams before gifting her.
Pandya kept his word and gave Kashvee the customised bat before Mumbai’s match against Delhi Capitals.
Kashvee Gautam had a remarkable season in WPL. The 21-year-old emerged as her team’s top wicket-taker, taking 11 wickets in nine matches at an economy rate of 6.45. She also made valuable contributions with the bat, playing key innings for Gujarat.
Young all-rounder Kashvee Gautam’s exceptional performances have secured her a place in the Indian women’s 15-member squad for the upcoming tri-series, where they will face Proteas and Sri Lanka. The selection was made with a focus on preparing for the World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in India during September and October.
