With Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, and Nicholas Pooran failing to score heavily, Lucknow Super Giants were unable to cross the 200-run mark against Chennai Super Kings. Captain Rishabh Pant scored his first fifty of the 18th season to give some respectiblity to the total. He amassed 63 runs off 48 balls, with the help of 4 fours and 4 sixes in the contest, with Lucknow posting 166/7.

Earlier, Lucknow failed to make full use of the powerplay as Markram (6) and Pooran (8) were sent back by Khaleel Ahmed and Anshul Kamboj.

Mitchell Marsh managed 30 runs off 25, but he was not at his aggressive best. He hit 2 fours and 2 sixes.

Ayush Badoni, who was lucky on many occasions, was finally dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja. He posted 22 runs off 17 balls, laced with 2 sixes and 1 four. Jadeja and Matheesha Pathirana took two scalps each in the game.

Lucknow have won four matches while losing 2. On the other hand, Chennai have lost five successive games while winning just 1.
