Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma went on never-seen-before carnage in the history of T20 cricket. The two opening batters of Sunrisers Hyderabad hit four and sixes on every ball in the powerplay overs. They added 125 runs in the first 6 overs, the highest team total ever in the history of the tournament.
Rishabh Pant ran out of ideas and his bowling changes proved costly for the hosts. Former India player Harbhajan Singh pleaded with Head and Abhishek to stop treating T20 cricket as T10 format.
Abhishek was finally dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav but not before the damage was done. He scored 46 runs off 12 balls, including 6 sixes and 2 fours. His runs came at a strike rate of 383.33.
Travis fell after amassing 89 runs off 32 deliveries, packed with 11 fours and 6 sixes. The two added 131 runs in 6.2 overs.
Kuldeep Yadav dismissed both the batters. Yadav added another one in the form of Aiden Markram.
“What is happening in Delhi? They age treating every ball as a free hit. Stop treating T20 cricket as T10 format. I haven’t seen anything like that before. If I were with Delhi, I would have surrendered in front of Head and Abhishek,” Harbhajan Singh.
Delhi’s comeback was completed when Axar Patel clean bowled dangerous Heinrich Klaasen. He accumulated 15 runs off 8 balls.
